Raise your hand if you’re hung over from the excitement of yesterday! *raises hand*
OK, raise your hand if you spent 75% of the day on a message board you’ve barely ever visited because those guys are more in tune with the recruiting happenings of your favorite team! *raises hand*
Now, raise your hand if you’re way behind at the paying job and have National Signing Day to thank! *raises hand*
Good thing for you guys that National Signing Day isn’t the only thing worth talking about this morning…but more on that later!
Before we go any further, click the Mizerle06 Theme Song link and leave the window open in the background as you enjoy all the link-goodness I’ve provided this morning…you’re cold and heartless if you don’t smile when the music starts playing.
I know this piece is fairly poorly written, but it’s got an interesting history of the movement of NFL teams.
The Titans co-owner and wife of owner Bud Adams died recently. They’d been married 62 years!
Peter King attempts to defend his hyperbole that Super Bowl 43 was the greatest game EVAR!
Tiger’s a lousy tipper.
Jeter is excited about the coming year and fully supports A-Rod in his drama with Madonna…or it is his drama with Torre? Whatever, Jeter loves his boy.
Season ticket holder has kept the exact same seats for 47 years…university decides to relocate said ticket holder…ticker holder naturally sues.
Somebody call Ashley Simpson, Milli Vanilli, etc. for our official apology. Looks like lip synching is the preferred way to go!
I’d like to introduce you all to the new Steelers minority owner.
The ACC got a little more overrated last night as Miami took care of Wake Forest and Clemson throttled Duke. Texas also got upset byMizzou. Seems like the only guys that really took care of business were the Spartans waxing Tubby’s Gophers. Oh yeah, Memphis extended their CUSA win streak to 50 straight.
There were some games in The Association last night. And in case you’re still unaware, LeBestplayerintheworld went all Kobe and then some on the Knicks last night.

First of all, the arguments that I hear here about the ACC make no sense. You can’t argue that they are top-heavy when the best teams beat the mid-range teams and that they are bad when the mid-range teams beat the top teams. That just flat out makes no sense. Last night’s ACC upsets prove how good the ACC is. It’s so good that the mid-range teams, when given home court, can beat the top teams. Anybody who has seen Wake play, knows that they are awesome. They were beat in their last two games by Georgia Tech (who I kept telling people was dangerous), and by Miami, both on the road. Miami is really good. Jack McClinton is an absolute beast. But they couldn’t beat Maryland this weekend, right? Where? College Park.
ACC fans know that you aren’t expected to win on the road in the ACC because all of the schools are famous for furious home court advantages with the exception of BC. This is why teams with a .500 record in the ACC have made the tourney, to go better than that you must win on the road.
Was Wake losing that big of an upset? If it was easy to win on the road that game wouldn’t have been on Streak for the Cash last night, but it was. Why? ESPN knows what I know. The ACC is crazy deep and if Miami is at home, there’s a good chance they can take down Wake.

And how is the #10 team (who everyone here except me keeps saying is overrated; you’re wrong) beating the #3 team at home a huge upset? Because it was 27 points? That’s only because the Duke scrubs scored 4 points in the last 6:30 after the game was decided.
(Quote)
gitc – in case you haven’t figure it out yet, the cries of “the ACC is overrated” are made tongue-in-cheek.
(Quote)
So your saying the ACC > SEC?
(Quote)
crap, forgot to log in.
(Quote)
A-Team > ACC
/college bball sucks
(Quote)
so this is the new barometer to measure the inpredictability of a game’s outcome?
(Quote)
you smiled when you heard it, didn’t you Fiesta!?
(Quote)
by the way, I meant to add
in TMA, but forgot.
(Quote)
they are 2nd best. the Big East is better. once you take your homerism out of the equation, you’ll see this as truth.
(Quote)
btw- the Big 10 is by far the best football conference.
(Quote)
your homerism is endearing.
(Quote)
I agree, a 52 pt triple-double is better than 61,3,0
/I saw Family Guy A-Team just the other day
(Quote)
Sparty-
If You created a top 20 based on how good the teams are composed of the ACC and Big East teams it would include the entire ACC with the exception of Virginia and the entire Big East with the exception of Providence, Cincinnati, St. John’s, DePaul, Seton Hall, South Florida, and Rutgers. Even if you argued that UC and the Friars are debatable (I’d say it is a debate), that would still mean that both conferences had 11 teams that were good. When one conference is 25% bigger but still has the same number of good teams I think it’s obvious which one is better.
Also, you didn’t actually have anything to disprove my argument. Just saying it’s homerism makes no sense. You don’t see JP calling me a homer for thinking the NBA is better than the Euroleague.
(Quote)
so why did these same mid-range teams struggle at home ooc? upsets happen during all conference play, this has nothing to do with the ACC teams being so good at home. get your head out of your ass.
(Quote)
miz-
I think that if a game is on SFTC it is a good indicator as to how close of a game it will be. ESPN doesn’t put anything on there that is worse that about 60/40.
(Quote)
Fiesta,
CLASSIC.
(Quote)
Once again, my ability to predict the future is amazing.
(Quote)
so what’s the excuse for BC beating UNC at Chapel Hill?
(Quote)
GITC,
I usually am out to bash the Big East, because I do think the ACC in most years is better.
However top to bottom, The Big East is better righ now.
(Quote)
john-the bar has been set high by LeBron and Kobe. what will Paul Pierce do tomorrow?
(Quote)
That’s pretty scary, John. Nice.
(Quote)
Sparty until Hedo Turkoglu steps into the Garden!
(This would have been Jameer, the injury)
(Quote)
Pierce will have a very good all around game tomorrow at MSG, mostly because GITC doesn’t do Studs and Duds on Saturday.
(Quote)
John – I’ve got a one-game streak in the Streak for the Cash and apparently they only pick hard games to determine the outcome. can I cann you for some advice?
(Quote)
I did streak for the cash once and nailed a soccer game, I don’t know squat about Euro soccer.
Cookie anyone?
(Quote)
Sure, but as your advisor, I’m entitled to 15% of your total winnings.
(Quote)
hopefully, if he’s actually arguing this, it’s tongue-in-cheek as well. the Euroleague is an understood minor league for the NBA.
and, yes, gitc…you’re a massive ACC homer and it clouds your judgement.
(Quote)
I’ll agree to that, john. what’s 15% of $0? anybody got a calculator?
(Quote)
trey – your cookie. congrats on the pick.
(Quote)
GITC
I apologize for thinking the ACC was top heavy. I was wrong, Duke sucks too.
(Quote)
I sincerely hope you’re all listening to the Mizerle06 Theme Song as we discuss these important matters this morning.

Mid-range ACC teams with home court advantages is probably defined as Maryland, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Florida State. Here are their out of conference home records…
Maryland (9-1) – Loss is to Morgan State by one. Looks bad. Looks less bad considering that Morgan State will make the tourney as the champ of the MEAC.
Miami (8-1) – Loss is to Ohio State by five in the ACC/Big10 (non-)Challenge. This was the game the Jack McClinton was thrown out of 4 minutes in after already having scored 12 points. Ohio State is also pretty good.
Virginia Tech (5-1) – Loss is to Wisconsin by two in the ACC/Big10 (non-)Challenge. On a buzzer-beater. Wisconsin is also not bad.
Florida State (7-1) – Loss is to Pitt by eight. Pitt is very good.
So, on a scale of 1-10 your statement is like a billion on the wrong scale. Unless you count 29-4 (with the 4 losses by a combined 16 points) to be struggling with all the losses being to three tourney teams and Wisconsin.
Let’s also not forget that VT could have had plenty more wins on the record had they not decided to gio tough and play road and neutral instead of home.
In short: You are very wrong.
(Quote)
so they lose to pretty good teams at home, but beat the teams that are suppose to be the greatest in all the land. makes perfect sense.
(Quote)
Oh yeah…
/pwn’d
(Quote)
Morgan State winning the MEAC is another case of the smartest retard. Like Jim Rice in the 70s.
Ohio State is an okay team. Again, they lose to an okay team, but then beat the greatest teams in the land?
Wisconsin is bad this year. They are 12-9 overall with a 3-6 conference record. I have also enjoyed Va Tech’s recent 2 game losing streak.
FSU lost to Pitt because the Big East is >>>> ACC.
(Quote)
Dude did you just try and justify a Morgan State loss?
Seriously?
Give me a few I’m floored
(Quote)
so now that i destroyed your theory….
/pwn’d
//which is ghey.
(Quote)
FSU losing to Pitt is like if Clemson beat West Virginia. Would that mean ACC > Big East.
(Quote)
no, that would mean West Virginia sucks. are you now saying that FSU sucks? which I would be fine with.
(Quote)
gitc – I’m only going to do this for one team because that’s all I have time for. we’ll use Maryland since they’re your fav and you used them as your first example when saying:
instead of looking at some obscure stat about home out-of-conference wins and justifying a loss to Morgan State on the same floor, let’s look at all of Maryland’s out-of-conference wins. here’s the teams: Bucknell, Youngstown St., Vermont, Michigan State, Michigan, George Washington, Delaware St., American U., Bryant, Elon, and Charlotte.
combined, those team have won 102 games and lost 132 games. justify that please.
/sorry for the comment length
//gitc’d
(Quote)
damn, can’t believe we dropped that game.
(Quote)
we account for almost 20% of those wins.
(Quote)
forgot to add:
Michigan (14-8), Mich State (18-4), and Vermont (16-7) are the only teams on that list with a winning record. the other 9 average a win-loss record of 6-12.5…pretty bad records, wouldn’t you say?
(Quote)
btw- the pigeon pic is awesome.
(Quote)
Miz-
That’s the story for almost all Big 6 conference schools in the middle of their conference though.
And I didn’t quote the “obscure stat”. Sparty did.
(Quote)
what obscure stat?
(Quote)
Another great episode of Lost last night, poor Jin is soooo LOST…i am loving the time warp theme
(Quote)
They lost the Georgia! GEORGIA! The same Georgia that canned their head man last week because he couldn’t win a single game in the SEC.
(Quote)
sparty-
“so why did these same mid-range teams struggle at home ooc?”
(Quote)
Miz gave me crap for citing it when I was simply responding to your comment.
(Quote)
i just don’t get why an upset can’t just be considered an upset? why do we have to fabricate it to be about some mysterious and mystical powers that only take place on ACC courts (but only during conference play).
(Quote)
how is that obscure?
(Quote)
i am pretty sure it gets taken into account during tournament selection and seeding.
(Quote)
miz, great TMA. sorry it was taken hostage.

My personal ranking of A-Team members…
1. B.A.
2. Murdock
3. Hannibal
4. Face
(Quote)
I would flip-flop BA and Murdock.
(Quote)
It was close between the two. BA wouldn’t have been as entertaining without Murdock always annoying him.
(Quote)
do they have A-Team seasons on DVD?
(Quote)
Yes and I think you can watch them on hulu too.

I didn’t say it was obscure. Miz did.

We are in for an epic S&D later. How epic? So epic that a great player had a great game and didn’t even make the cut. Which player? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
/that’s what we call “a tease”
/the business’d
(Quote)
like i said yesterday, epic offensive numbers.
(Quote)
it would be ridiculous for me to say gitc is a homer on the nba-euroleague comparison.
however, i agree with the rest of the s&f community with the ACC<BEast comparison.
i mean 47pts by dook.
(Quote)
i think the guy missing the cut had 20 missed shots last night
(Quote)
How can today be epic, when you always leave Paul Pierce off the Studs list?
(Quote)
OK, so here’s a thought for you all from my perspective…
There was a prop bet on the Super Bowl about the length of the National Anthem in real time. I believe the Over/Under was set at 2:02.
So, if it was prerecorded… I mean, wouldn’t that invalidate the bets? Couldn’t somebody from the recording studio just time it all out and the head to Vegas and belt down massive amounts of money on it?
For that matter, couldn’t a singer put down mega money on the Over, then string out the tune just long enough?
See, this is why I generally hate prop bets.
(Quote)
I think that critical songs like the National Anthem should be pre-recorded since most singers sound worse singing live. Club or concerts should be live, however.
(Quote)
depends on who is singing.
given what transpired with j-hud recently (btw, this is her first public singing appearance)
