I am almost done being sick. I may go to work today – I may not. Do you want to feel bad with me? Let the moaning and complaining begin as we get right to the links. The reserves for the NBA All-Star game were announced last night, and people are upset. Somehow the Magic are represented by 3 players, but the Cavs couldn’t get LeBron’s running mate, Mo Williams, as part of the team.
As was mentioned briefly yesterday, Andy Roddick lost to Roger Federer, again. This time he was beat in straight sets, in the semis of the Austrailian Open. Roddick was suppose to be the guy that followed Agassi and Sampras in the great line of American tennis players. However, his career has been underwhelming since winning the 2003 US Open. Has Roddick disappointed? Or did he just show up at the wrong time (Roger Federer).

The problems continue to mount for Barry Bonds. Former teammate Bobby Estalella has been subpoenaed by federal prosecutors to testify at Barry Bonds’ trial.
Albert Pujols and Manny Ramirez in the same lineup? Albert wants it to be. Seriously, who is protecting who?

Magic in 1?

Miz,
You think Nick Calathes will get booed tomorrow in Knoxville?
(Quote)
probably so, trey. if I was in town, the answer would be a resounding “YES.”
(Quote)
i’d say there will be a few “Ed-die Mun-ster…clap clap clapclapclap” chants as well.
(Quote)
The East is going to lose the ASG, because the team has too many Magic players and not enough Celtics.
(Quote)
too much jameer nelson, john.
(Quote)
ppssssh john…the coaches voted. Jameer scores 30 and wins MVP
(Quote)
Jameer scores 30 because the final score will be 312-305.
/no defense
(Quote)
Jameer couldn’t score 30 in the Rookie/Sophmore game, much less the ASG.
Rondo > Jameer

Roddick has the Mailman syndrome: A great player playing in an era of an even greater player, robbing him of championships. See most NBAers in the 90s (Jordan) and 60s (Russell)
(Quote)
FT-i am not sure about that. I don’t think Roddick would have been able to hang with Sampras or Agassi either.

Well, maybe he’s not a great, but he would have gotten a few more wins without Federer (or Nadal) in the way. I’d say 3rd best in this “era”
(Quote)
in fact, even Federer would be destroyed by Pete.

Musberger at 3????
(Quote)
Any list that puts Brent Musberger at anything other than sucking to holy hell is a bullshit list John.
(Quote)
Musberger is #3 on all time worst list maybe behind Pam Ward and Billy Packer. He comes in just ahead of the boom goes the dynamite guy from Ball St.
(Quote)
Summerall should be top 5 along with Keith Jackson.
(Quote)
I am a HUGE fan of Bill Raftery and Gus Johnson, they should be 1a and 1b.

I was surprised how high Mike Tirico was ranked…and pleasantly surprised he was ahead of Berman.

No idea how Bryant Gumbel even made the list.
(Quote)
That list is a fraud. Joe Morgan is on it.
(Quote)
why go to work today if you’ve been sick even if you’re feeling better. Take the long weekend
(Quote)
Jameer has better numbers as the 4th scoring option on his team.
Don’t get me wrong, I was definitly surprised, but anyone who has watched the Magic play this year will tell you Jameer is the reason they’re playing this well.
He was the leader of that comeback turned blowout last night.

Celtics vs. Pistons tonight…
(Quote)
Since no S&D today, I’d say:
Stud: Howard
Dud: James
(Quote)
I think Keady does a pretty nice job for the Big Ten Network. But hey I’m not biased or anything. Anytime that spectacular combover gets tv time is a good thing though.

Celtics are going to whoop the Pistons tonight.

Lebron was in full whiny mode last night. I love watching him play, but could you imagine if he tried to do those barrel through the lane drives he does now, 20-25 years ago? Someone would have tried to kill him.
The NBA has gotten to ticky tack on those calls that almost anyone who drives can pick up a foul based on incidential conatct. I’m glad to see they’ve loosend up on it this season.

Smart man.
(Quote)
wonder what the game would have been like if Big Z and West were playing…?
(Quote)
Please, the Magic have owned the Cavs the last few years. We won 3 of 4 last year and pulled a 30 point swing last night.
Admit it. The Magic are good.
(Quote)
they are good. but not good enough.
(Quote)
The Magic are good.
The Cavs are really good.
The Celtics are excellent.
/admitted
(Quote)
We’re the second best team in the east.
(Quote)
please, trey. The Cavs haven’t been full strength since the beginning of December.
(Quote)
How are teh Cavs better than the Magic?
You think Z does anything on Howard? Would West really be that much of a difference?
Probably not that much.
(Quote)
behind the Cavs, right?
(Quote)
They are better.
Z can shoot the ball from 18ft away, forcing Howard to leave the paint, giving the Cavs second chance opportunities if he misses, and opening the lane for perimeter players.
West would frustrate the hell out of Jameer.
(Quote)
Ok, and we took 3 of 4 last year. And destroyed them last night.
What will it take for people to respect the Magic?
We’ve swept the Spurs and Lakers, we’ve beaten the Hornets and Cavs,
Beaten Denver in Denver, and gone 17-6 on the road with TWO west coast road trips.
(Quote)
@ Sparty we’ve won 5 of the last 6 vs. the Cavs…how are they better?
(Quote)
trey- last years record against the Cavs doesn’t matter.
(Quote)
playoff performances. the Grizz never would have earned their rep without some stellar postseasons.
(Quote)
Evidently Nadal and some random guy is in a 5th set to see who gets to face Federer
(Quote)
I will say this Z has never given the Magic problems. He Magic have a solid TEAM defense and that allows Dwight to say in the lane.
I know I won’t sell ya until the Magic hoist the trophy in June.
/maybe.

Good answer Miz.
We played he Pistons tough, Games 4-5 game down to last second shots.
Ah I’l quit defending them, I’l just bring this conversation back up down the road.
