I could seeing firing a coach for looking to take a position with a rival team (not that it’s necessarily right), but firing him for wanting to try and get a more lucrative job and possibly better his career? BC will lose their recruits and be behind everyone else once they hire a new coach. Also, I would go apeshit if I got fired for interviewing for another job. Now I am not a public figure so typically nobody would know. I think the BC athletic director is not only a manipulative dick, he is stupid.
