Both are on the Stud list, but it was Davis West who pushed the Hornets past the Lakers.
Well, I’m sure you know by now that the Celtics lost once again. This is really starting to get embarrassing. And no, The Truth is not on the Stud list. The Magic finally stopped my Wiz from running through the top of the Eastern Conference. The Rockets lost to the Sixers as Ron Artest missed another game. The T’Wolves beat the Grizz in a game nobody cares about. What people should care about is O.J. Mayo. He is looking like he has put distance between him and the other rookies. The Thunder beat the Knicks, proving that they are better than the Celtics. Speakjing of the Thunder, Stud Kevin Durant says that he shouldn’t be an All Star because his team is terrible. Maturity from KD? That’s new. Regardless, he’s wrong. He is clearly an All Star. Our top 3 Studs come from the Lakers/Hornets match-up as the 18-foot Assassin and CP3 took down the Black Mamba.
I should point out that tonight ESPN is running an interesting experiment. They are switching the NBA and NCAA announcing teams for their double header tonight. Mike Tirico, Mark Jackson, and Jeff Van Gundy will be doing the Duke/Davidson game from Cameron Indoor while Dick Vitale and Dan Schulman go out to Denver to cover Heat/Nuggs. Obviously this is weird. I will watch both games just to see how it pans out. It goes without saying that we should all be rooting for Steph Curry, the White Lobster, and the rest of their crew against the evil empire. I have included a bonus video after the jump of NBA players doing imitations of Dicky V. Let me put this disclaimer out there though. Stud Dirk Nowitzki’s imitation is scary. Lists and highlights after the jump as well…
Studs
1. David West – 14/23 FG, 12/13 FT, 11 REB, 2 STL, 40 PTS

3. Kobe Bryant – 14/22 FG, 6/7 3PT, 5/6 FT, 4 REB, 7 AST, 39 PTS
4. Dirk Nowitzki – 13/23 FG, 4/4 3PT, 4/4 FT, 4 REB, 3 AST, 2 BLK, 34 PTS
5. Kevin Durant – 11/16 FG, 4/5 FT, 12 REB, 3 AST, 27 PTS
Duds
1. Andres Nocioni – 1/11 FG, 1/4 3PT, 0/0 FT, 1 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 0 BLK, 2 PF, 3 PTS, 12 MIN

4. Damien Wilkins – 1/3 FG, 0/1 3PT, 0/0 FT, 0 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 2 TO, 2 PTS, 9 MIN

this idea with switching announcers is stupid. i wouldn’t watch duke with dickie v calling the game. now that he is calling the NBA game, i won’t watch either game.
(Quote)
I like the idea.
(Quote)
not surprised, the idea is retarded, like florida schools.
(Quote)
Interesting idea, but two hours of Vitale going crazy over D-Wade will probably be too much for me.
(Quote)
Are you talking about the physical florida schools, the florida school system, the florida school’s employees, or the occupants of florida schools?
(Quote)
Is this a contest? Guess the #3 Dud?
I say the fruity white guy gawking at CP3’s ass in the above photo.
(Quote)
the entire florida school system.
(Quote)
Just checking.
(Quote)
sae, the underpants gnomes took over the studs and duds today.
(Quote)
ha! kudos, gitc. Juan Dixon is the number 3 dud. highlight it. He didn’t want to admit that the leader of the worst NCAA champion in the last 20 years was a dud.
(Quote)
Worst NCAA champion. Is that a joke? I hope so.
(Quote)
Who was a worse champ than Maryland?
(Quote)
gitc-i cannot answer that right now. just got an idea for a post….
(Quote)
from patphish-
hmmmm….20 years……………..HELL YES MARYLAND. . Steve Blake! Steve f’in Blake?!? the 1988 kansas team sucked too.
(Quote)
#3 Dud is Paula Pierce. The GITC giveth and the GITC taketh away.
(Quote)
What are we basing worst champion on? If it’s pro success you might have a shot. Actual college skill though? No chance at making that case.
Steve Blake was the ultimate college point guard. Hit open threes, sneaky fast, good defender, great passer. Juan Dixon was awesome. Byron Mouton was the thing every college team needed. Role player who scored when left open, rebounded, hustled, set great picks, and did everything he was asked. Chris Wilcox was the ultimate athletic guy. Ran the break, blocked shots, back door alley oops, and all that. Lonny Baxter was an actual back to the basket center who could both score and defend and wasn’t even slow.
Off the bench you had all three great bench players. The guy who could double at both back court positions, be a pure scorer when you needed points and always had energy – Drew Nicolas. The flex guy who had size and could shoot as well – Tahj Holden. And the guy who has pure size if either of your guys gets in foul trouble – Ryan Randle.

Derrick Rose > Stevie Blake
(Quote)
GITC, +(#)12 on hiding the 3rd dud
(Quote)
sparty-
You do know that Steve Blake starts at the point for a top 10 NBA team, right?
(Quote)
miz-
False. Rose took to many shots at the point for the average college team. He’s also way behind on Blake when it comes to half of the game – defense. Blake is also a better passer. They both can shoot threes. So basically Rose can get to the hoop better.
(Quote)
I would say Mateen Cleaves. But he was too busy laying on the floor crying.
(Quote)
Mateen Cleaves was the ultimate college point guard. Hit open threes, sneaky fast, good defender, great passer. Charlie Bell was awesome. Morris Peterson was the thing every college team needed. Role player who scored when left open, rebounded, hustled, set great picks, and did everything he was asked. Jason Richarson was the ultimate athletic guy. Ran the break, blocked shots, back door alley oops, and all that. Andre Hutson was an actual back to the basket center who could both score and defend and wasn’t even slow.
Off the bench you had all three great bench players. The guy who could double at both back court positions, be a pure scorer when you needed points and always had energy – Mike Chappel. The flex guy who had size and could shoot as well – AJ Granger. And the guy who has pure size if either of your guys gets in foul trouble – Aloisius Anagonye

Ultimate Maryland vs any other champ from last 20 years.
Yup, they lose that game every time. Thus, worst champ of last 20 years.
(Quote)
should i do 1999 or 2004 UConn next? maybe 1991 and 92 Duke? Then I could move on to Arkansas? Oh, i know, dem Gator Boyz!
(Quote)
Boy, is that an old pic. Turiaff (with GSW) and Walton (injured) in the background, Kobe with a Fro.
(Quote)
i hate to say it, but who is going to stop Glen Rice if they played?
(Quote)
gitc – false. Rose > Blake.
(Quote)
I always forget about Jason Richardson on that MSU championship team. Mo Pete and Cleeve’s teeth take up all the room in my memory.
(Quote)
+1, TMS.
(Quote)
I’d put the 06-07 Gators up against ANYONE.
(Quote)
no kidding.
(Quote)
I’d take Dixon over Cleeves, Blake over Bell, Baxter by miles over Hutson, and Wilcox over MoPete. Not to mention the whole Terp bench over the whole Spartan bench.
I’ll give you JRich over Mouton.
(Quote)
I’d put my Vols up against your national championship winning Gators 3 out of 4 times…
(Quote)
Wait a sec, JRich averaged 5 points that season. So I take that back.
(Quote)
spartans would have destroyed them.
(Quote)
everyone knows it, gitc. maryland is at the bottom of the champs list.
(Quote)
2000 MSU is at the bottom of the list.
/am I going to get my ass kicked for this
(Quote)
that is just dumb talk, fiesta.
(Quote)
Look who they beat. Florida, sporting Udonis Haslem? Anybody could beat Florida.
(Quote)
Arizona’s is the worst.
(Quote)
Udonis Halsem had a big game in that Championship game.
(Quote)
Maryland beat an Indiana team whose best player (Coverdale) was injured. God what a shitty game that was.
(Quote)
Fiesta-we pummeled them for most of the game too. we beat who was put in front of us.
(Quote)
OK…fine…second worse…
(Quote)
MSU vs Maryland? Why waste our time with that? NOT EVEN CLOSE. Blake and Dixon better than Cleeves and Bell? Really? Please return to your crack pipe.
(Quote)
Beating who is put in front of you does not make you a great champion
(Quote)
The opponent doesn’t mean that much, and MSU crushed Florida anyway. Now to contridict that, didn’t that Zona team beat 3 #1’s? Only team ever to do that?
(Quote)
fiesta-you have no idea how good that team was. the only reason we didn’t win the year before is because Duke and UConn were light years ahead of everyone.
(Quote)
losing to who is put in front of you makes you a great champion!
(Quote)
Isn’t that the same as saying:
“We could’ve won the championship is there wasn’t a better team out there”
(Quote)
well yeah, but that was 1999. we won in 2000.
(Quote)
The entire 1999 final 4 would beat Maryland.
(Quote)
Mark show-
That was a terrible game. It doesn’t mean Maryland was a bad team. And Jared Jeffries was the best player on that team. He was 2nd team All American.
Both Baxter and Dixon were 1st Team All Americans that season. Maryland was 32-4 and 15-1 in the ACC. Maryland four losses were to Arizona in NYC, Duke on the road, Oklahoma on the road, and NC State in Charlotte. Duke was a 1 seed, Oklahoma went to the final four, Zona was a 3 seed, and NC State was a 7 who lost to Uconn by 3 in the 2nd round.
(Quote)
Cleaves could have been a Florida QB…great player in his college system…a bust in the pros
(Quote)
kinda my point.
(Quote)
Maryland wasn’t a bad team, they make the top 20 of champions of the past 20 years. Only 19 other teams can make the same claim. Of course they are all better than Maryland but……………..
(Quote)
06-07 Florida – Greatest ever.
They’d beat the ‘96 Bulls.
(Quote)
Arizona’s games in 1997:
65-57 vs 13 S.Alabama
73-69 vs 12 Charleston
96-92 vs 10 Providence
85-82 vs 1 Kansas
66-58 vs 1 North Carolina
84-79 vs 1 Kentucky
They squeaked by a bunch of bad teams then got lucky the last 3 games. They had 10 losses and were a 4 seed. Very weak as far as champs go.
(Quote)
college basketball was rocking back in the 90s. no champion was weak.
(Quote)
Danny Wuerffel > Mateen Cleaves
(Quote)
Isn’t this an NBA post? Who started this college crap anyway?
(Quote)
Lucky 3 times against #1 seeds. Ummmm………….NO.
(Quote)
Mateen was a great QB in high school.
(Quote)
To show how good Cleeves and MoPete were, here are the players who made 1st team All America in front of them:
(warning: prepare to laugh)
Chris Carrawell F Senior Duke
Marcus Fizer F Junior Iowa State
A.J. Guyton G Senior Indiana
Kenyon Martin C/F Senior Cincinnati
Chris Mihm C Junior Texas
Troy Murphy F Sophomore Notre Dame
and to show how bad that year was, here’s the second team…
Courtney Alexander G/F Senior Fresno State
Shane Battier F Junior Duke
Mateen Cleaves G Senior Michigan State
Scoonie Penn G Senior Ohio State
Morris Peterson F Senior Michigan State
Stromile Swift F/C Sophomore Louisiana State
(Quote)
fiesta-it is GITC fault for trying to hide Juan Dixon as the #3 Dud.
(Quote)
Did someone really say that Tom Coverdale was the best player on that IU team? That’s just an insane comment. Jared Jeffries.
(Quote)
I’m thirsty. I need a drink…
(Quote)
gitc-we will just ignore that cleaves missed 13 games that season…
(Quote)
Dane Fife.
(Quote)
Dane Fife, now there is a guy who should have stuck to football. He was unbelievable at QB.
(Quote)
had Mo Pete been a starter, he probably could have won All American too, but Izzo wanted him as the 6th man to spark the team.
(Quote)
but fife is now the coach, right?
