A Season on the Brink*

By sparty

When one starts their season as winners in 27 of their first 29 games, expectations are high.  Especially when that same team is the defending champions of the NBA.  However, when you lose 2 straight (to the Knicks and Bobcats???) and have only played .500 ball in your last 10, those expectations are lowered.

There is absolute panic in Boston right now.  I received a text message from CMFost last night following the Celtics pathetic OT loss to perennial doormat, Charlotte.  What did that text message say?  “The Cavs and their cheating, traveling leader are the best team in the world, we can’t beat anyone. At least Boston College’s football team has a head coach.”  I text back to him, “Seriously, dude, leave me and my family alone.”**

Is the impact of not having PJ Brown and James Posey in their lineup starting to show on the court for the Celtics?  Were they really the veteran leaders that this team needed to plow through the Eastern Conference?  I heard this kind of talk from vets on defending champion teams before:

“Right now, we’re in a little bit of a funk, but no doubt in my mind we’ll get out of it. We’ll be all right.”

No, Paul Pierce. The correct thing to say is, we are playing like garbage and we need to start playing better, and right now.  Thinking that the switch will just be flipped is a horrible mentality to have.  This is what destroyed the Roman Empire Detroit Pistons chances at ever regaining the glory they achieved in 2004.  Hey, if you want to be arrogant as Rick Martel, go right ahead.

Bobcats rookie PG, DJ Augustin, has found the Celtics achilles heel:

“They come in and intimidate you and try to punk you,” Augustin said. “But if you don’t back down from them, they kind of fold.”

You hear that world!? The Boston Celtics are a bunch of fakers.   Not just Paul Pierce, but that even that retarded chest pounding All-Star PF, Kevin Garnett.  Nothing but pansies who cannot even beat the crummy Bobcats.  To make matters worse, the team most responsible for Boston’s title has won 3 straight.

How can any fan of these guys be confident heading into the 2nd half of the 1st full week in January?  This collapse IS astounding and Earth shattering.  Luckily for them they play in the worst division in all of the NBA and should still make the playoffs, where they will lose to the Cavs in the 2nd round (because the Pistons will win the Central***).

*Totally think they will win it all
**Complete Fabrication
***Very true, Suck It.
