The Morning After: December 13, 2008

By sparty

I expect things to be quite slow around here today.  No college football of tma-weekendinterest to watch, as we are still a week away from the 100,000 college bowl games.

So what we thought we would start doing this time is put up a college basketball comments section.  There are not any big time games on today, but there will be a couple worth checking out, such as tOSU vs Butler and the game of the day, Memphis at Georgetown.

We are less than a month away from conference play, which is when buisness on the college hardwood really picks up.

So what the hell happened yesterday? It seemed pretty quiet…

Except for the fact that the Yankees signed AJ Burnett to a 5 year deal.  The revamped Yankees rotation is almost set.  Right now, the 1-4 is Sabathia, Wang, Burnett, and Chamberlain.  The Yanks will have one more spot to fill.  Sounds like they would prefer Andy Pettitte to be that guy, giving them to lefties to bookend the rotation.  For all the money they have throw around this offseason, even if they get Andy back, and complete the trade for Mike Cameron, their payroll for 2009 will be less than 2008.

The Angels did attempt to land Mark Teixeira while the winter meetings were happening.  They offered him and 8 year deal that he did not accept.  Teixeira has been seeking a 10 year deal worth 20 million per year.  Still think he lands in Boston.

The problems in Dallas extend further than just Romo and Owens, at least that is what Ed Werder is reporting.  My father thinks this is just a media ploy by the Cowboys, what do you think?

Cavs, really good.

Celtics, great.

Vince Carter, really bad.

Pistons, about time.

Grant Hill, in the clutch.

Now that is some analysis.

Stay tuned until later this morning. I am getting word that there will be a huge announcement….In the meantime, I’m going to go play with Legos….
