The Morning After: December 12, 2008

By sparty

Friday is finally upon us.  I am looking at the work that I have to do today, and cannot wait until this workday is over.  A lot to get done between now and Christmas.  It gets pretty dead the week after any holiday weekend, but especially quiet after that one.  Prior to that? All hell breaks loose.

I rely upon this site to keep my sanity throughout the day.  I love chit chatting about sports, and was never a big fan of message boards, too busy.  Thank God we broke away from the bondage that was Dan Shanoff.  That self inflicted pain became too great.

Anyway….

Like Father Like Son? There have been quite a few athletes that had their sons follow in their footsteps, some kids have even managed to be better than their pops.  Ken and Ken Griffey Jr.,  Bobby and Brett Hull, Bobby and Barry Bonds, Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.  Even some daughters have risen to success in their father’s sport.  However, how many actually duplicate their father’s style…

That is Barry Sanders Jr.  He is only a freshman. That run took place in the state semi finals.  The one huge difference that I can see?  Senior never showed that much excitement on a TD.

Last year TO was crying about how Tony Romo was his teammate, his quarterback…now he is very jealous of Romo’s relationship with Witten.  It is about time TO got pissed at him.  The best part is that the WR’s met with Jason Garrett privately to discuss offense.  FANTASTIC!  For those that say this is an Ed Werder fabrication…If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck….

Javon Ringer was not the best running back in the country this year, apparently.  I demand a recount!  Actually, Shonn Greene was  a stud.  Too bad he couldn’t get 1 measley yard when he needed to against Michigan State.  Here are all the College Football Award winners.

Tebowner, get it?!

The Mets and the Phillies have become bigger rivals over the last couple years, they might even be the second biggest rivalry in the MLB.  Exhibit A.

No huge deals made yesterday in Vegas.  Burnett is not a Yankee, yet.  Teixeira is not on the Red Sox, yet.  Jake Peavy is not on the Cubs, yet (ignore the Angles talk).  Manny Ramirez is not still on the Dodgers, yet.  These will all be worked out over the next few weeks, which is usually the case.

Andy Pettite is being advised that it is pretty simple: $10 Million, or see you later.

Some Friday non-sports links

10 Greateast Fast Food Sides.

Top 50 Greatest Guy Movies of the 1990s.  Spencer should be really happy with #17.

You want to see a big upcoming guy movie trailer? If you can get by the Japanese subtitles, enjoy Terminator: Salvation.  Christian Bale is becoming the king of the relaunch.

Happy Friday!
