Blah blah blah. Another 8-8 showing in Week 14 to put the record at 96-104-6 on the season. I’m getting so bored with mediocrity. I’d much rather go 12-4 or 4-12 one week and finish the season with a bang, one way or the other. Since my hands are still stinging from the Hot Stove opus that we put together yesterday (seriously, I hadn’t written 3000+ words in one sitting in over six months. Now I remember why), I’m going to keep this short and sweet today. Tomorrow’s picks will be a little more in depth…

Disclaimer: Gambling on sports is illegal unless you are in Las Vegas or Atlantic City. Also, if I’m horribly incorrect with these picks – as I have occasionally been in the past – I’m sorry in advance. If you can’t afford to lose, don’t play. John Anthony – “The Million Dollar Man with the Billion Dollar Plan” – is not a real person. If you’re playing against me in the Pigskin Pick’Em Pool, don’t expect all my picks to match these – different lines could mean different picks. All lines from Bodog and accurate as of the time this was typed – 12am Friday. Home teams in CAPS. That about covers it.)

BEARS (-3) over Saints: Wow, honestly, this might actually be a pretty good game. I wasn’t expecting to see too many good games on Thursday this year, but this one looks like it might be alright. Sure, the Saints have an outside chance at the postseason, but the Bears are only one game back in the division (though Minnesota has the tiebreaker right now, so it’s really two games) and two games back in the Wild Card with three teams to leapfrog. They need to win out and hope Minnesota trips up once or twice. With an outdoor game in Chicago where it’s supposed to be about 25 degrees at kickoff, I like the Northern team at home over the Southern team from the dome. And no, that was not an intentional rhyme.

Back tomorrow with the rest of the weekend’s action, plus a semi-surprise… (aren’t teasers great?!)

Lata.
