The Morning After: August 29, 2008

By sparty

Labor Day Weekend Is Here!

Before we take off, let’s just cover some happenings…

Though I was done talking about Michael Phelps, didn’t you?  After winning 8 gold medals at the Olympics, and bringing home a cool million from sponsor Speedo for completing the pheat, now he will be hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live.  But wait, that’s not all.  Phelps is also being given $1.6 million up front for his book deal.  Who says you cannot make a living swimming?

Hugging Harold Reynolds does a great job of reviewing some of the best signs seen at sporting events.  Very proud of the Izzone;s.  The always handle Erin Andrews better than anyone.  Our buddy Spencer will love the OSU sign?

Fantasy Football or Real Football?

The last Wrestlemania I ever purchased was back around WM 11, I think.  The only reason a few of my buddies and myself got it was to see LT take on Bam Bam Bigelow.  LT is not the first football player to step into the square circle.  Here is a list of the top 10, from The Love of the NFL.

Adam “Pacman” Jones has been fully reinstated to the NFL.  What impact may this have on the Cowboys?  There probably is not team in the NFL with more talent than Dallas.  Anything less than a Super Bowl appearance will be a failure in Big D. (Fox Sports)

Peyton Manning has returned from his injury, but he just lost his long time center for at least the next six weeks.  Jeff Saturday will not play for the next six weeks, but could miss more time if he opts to undergo surgery on ligament damange in his right knee.

Top-seeded Ana Ivanovic lost yesterday at the US Open. This sadden us a lot.  One more picture before we say our final goodbye.   Well actually two.  For some, this one may be NSFW.

How we all love lists.  Here is another.  The Worst Sports-Related Song of All-Time. (SI.Com)

Following up my declaration that the Yankees were done.  The Hef Chronicles cover who is to blame. I am aware I may have pulled a CMFost and bailed early.  If in some miracle, the  Yanks make it to the playoffs, I will not comment about the Yankees at all. (The Big Lead)

It really isn’t a good thing when your “Ace of the Staff” is on his way to see Dr. James Andrews only 1 month before the season ends. (Boston.com)

AH! Just found the video of LT vs Bam Bam.  It is a little long, but totally worth it.  LT Baby!

Entering into a holiday weekend, so I am taking it a little easy the next few days.  We will have abbreviated morning posts and back to full tilt on Tueday.  Today, you should all be whoring out this.
