The Morning After: August 27, 2008

By sparty

Remember how much fun Vince Carter was?

Totally pointless, came across the video.  It rules.

Michael Strahan did not take long to make his decision, informing the World Champion New York Football Giants that he would not return to play a 16th season.  Strahan will remain retired and begin his career as a Fox studio analyst in two weeks.  I told you Ralph would break the story, unless Jay Glazer got to it first.  (Fox Sports)

Some season ticket fans of the New York Jets are spared having to pay PSLs.  Grumble grumble grumble. (Newsday)

So who is the best player on your favorite team?  Who is the worst player on your team?  Having trouble narrowing it down to just one guy?  Bush League is here to help you out.  Pretty sad when a rookie (Jake Long) that has yet to play a regular season down is considered your best player.

The slowest men in sports.  The Molina brothers should have topped this list. (SI.com)

DaveLozo.com boasts about his fantasy team.  I am in the same league as him,  as is The Big Lead, Cousins of Ron Mexico , Hef from Major League Jerk and The Sports Hernia Blog.  Here is my team:

QBs: Carson Palmer, Donavon McNabb

RB: Steven Jackson, Reggie Bush, Rudi Johnson(auto pick) Ahmed Bradshaw (auto pick)

WR: Reggie Wayne, Lee Evans, Jerricho Cotchery, Javon Walker(auto pick, sleeper), Donte Stallworth(auto pick)

TE: Tony Gonzalez, Donald Lee (auto pick)

K: Shayne Graham(auto pick)

D: Giants and Seattle

Probaby should have grabbed another running back, but someone is bound to be another Ryan Grant.  We are playing tw QBs, so that was just as important.  I need to drop someone and get another QB for the bye weeks.

Ana Ivanovic

Here is the full slate of college games for week 1.  (Awful Announcing)

Ana Ivanovic had a Round 1 scare at the US Open. We want her to make it all the way.  For very selfish reasons. (ESPN)

Former Portland Trailblazers Center, Kevin Duckworth died yesterday at the young age of 44. (AP)

Escaping the Grim Reaper was HOF’er Carl Yastrzemsk.  Yaz returned home after triple by-pass heart surgery. (WBZTV)

It is official.  MLB begins using replay tomorrow.  Repeat after me: “It will help the game.  It will help the game.” (LA Times)

The story about the 9-year-old that was banned from playing because he was too good. Come to think of it, there were a couple 9 and 10 year olds throwing that hard in the league I played in.  Tommy Marx was on my team, the Blue Jays,  I am sure he was hitting 40 on the gun. (NY Times)

Uh-oh Michael Phelps tests positive for DDP. ; ) (Bleacher Report)

The Yanks are DEA—-I cannot bring myself to say it yet.  This is rough. (NY Post)

Cliff Lee is the effin tits. (Clevland.com)

I am taking a little break from daily baseball game coverage.  We are about to have college football coverage, NFL, and before you know it NBA and NHL.  Yep, I cover hockey!. Here are the scores. (MLB.com)

Big East Preview will be up at 1pm.
