Remember how much fun Vince Carter was?
Totally pointless, came across the video. It rules.
Michael Strahan did not take long to make his decision, informing the World Champion New York Football Giants that he would not return to play a 16th season. Strahan will remain retired and begin his career as a Fox studio analyst in two weeks. I told you Ralph would break the story, unless Jay Glazer got to it first. (Fox Sports)
Some season ticket fans of the New York Jets are spared having to pay PSLs. Grumble grumble grumble. (Newsday)
So who is the best player on your favorite team? Who is the worst player on your team? Having trouble narrowing it down to just one guy? Bush League is here to help you out. Pretty sad when a rookie (Jake Long) that has yet to play a regular season down is considered your best player.
The slowest men in sports. The Molina brothers should have topped this list. (SI.com)
DaveLozo.com boasts about his fantasy team. I am in the same league as him, as is The Big Lead, Cousins of Ron Mexico , Hef from Major League Jerk and The Sports Hernia Blog. Here is my team:
QBs: Carson Palmer, Donavon McNabb
RB: Steven Jackson, Reggie Bush, Rudi Johnson(auto pick) Ahmed Bradshaw (auto pick)
WR: Reggie Wayne, Lee Evans, Jerricho Cotchery, Javon Walker(auto pick, sleeper), Donte Stallworth(auto pick)
TE: Tony Gonzalez, Donald Lee (auto pick)
K: Shayne Graham(auto pick)
D: Giants and Seattle
Probaby should have grabbed another running back, but someone is bound to be another Ryan Grant. We are playing tw QBs, so that was just as important. I need to drop someone and get another QB for the bye weeks.

Ana Ivanovic
Here is the full slate of college games for week 1. (Awful Announcing)
Ana Ivanovic had a Round 1 scare at the US Open. We want her to make it all the way. For very selfish reasons. (ESPN)
Former Portland Trailblazers Center, Kevin Duckworth died yesterday at the young age of 44. (AP)
Escaping the Grim Reaper was HOF’er Carl Yastrzemsk. Yaz returned home after triple by-pass heart surgery. (WBZTV)
It is official. MLB begins using replay tomorrow. Repeat after me: “It will help the game. It will help the game.” (LA Times)
The story about the 9-year-old that was banned from playing because he was too good. Come to think of it, there were a couple 9 and 10 year olds throwing that hard in the league I played in. Tommy Marx was on my team, the Blue Jays, I am sure he was hitting 40 on the gun. (NY Times)
Uh-oh Michael Phelps tests positive for DDP. ; ) (Bleacher Report)
The Yanks are DEA—-I cannot bring myself to say it yet. This is rough. (NY Post)
Cliff Lee is the effin tits. (Clevland.com)
I am taking a little break from daily baseball game coverage. We are about to have college football coverage, NFL, and before you know it NBA and NHL. Yep, I cover hockey!. Here are the scores. (MLB.com)

very much looking forward to the caption post, marco. this looks like a good one.

A-Rod is going to have a tough time topping last night’s game tonight.
(Quote)
last year they had a hard on for him. i am not jumping on the bash A-Rod bandwagon. I almost did, but this team’s offense as a whole has been anemic all season.

I felt a little bad (but not really) for Pettitte. He got squeezed big time by the home plate ump.
(Quote)
the ump sucked, but the Yanks had several chances to get to Wakefield and did not.
(Quote)
the ump was terrible but sparty is correct the Yankees blew a ton of chances to stay in that game and could not. The biggest one being A-Rod grounding into a Double Play with 1 out and the Bases loaded.

I’ve gotta be honest, watching Manny and Arod flounder makes me smile.
(Quote)
except Manny went 3 for 4 last night. My foot is tasty.
(Quote)
i’m sorry, i have been busy looking at Ana Ivanovic pics.
(Quote)
Marco you can take your foot out of your mouth the Dodgers did actually lose.

Cliff Lee is effing tits. I’m glad he plays for my team ; )
And, hey, Tribe took over 3rd in the AL Central with their 9th win in a row!
(Quote)
cmfost, what does that have to do with Manny?
(Quote)
Sad to believe I told my wife at spring training on March 9th that Lee’s career sunk like the Bismark.
(Quote)
jen–Way to celebrate 3rd place.
(Quote)
go tribe…
sparty…lee evans is going to dissapoint you…greatly. enjoy the 3 big games per year, and just watch in agony as he gets you 2 catches for 24 yards in the other 13. but he’s a cleveland native so he’s tits in my book.
(Quote)
Man, the Mets bullpen is pretty bad. I hope they figure out how to get it together and stop blowing leads.
(Quote)
sparty–You really picked McNabb?? How are you going to be able to root for an Eagle to put up good numbers?
(Quote)
rekcalsa…it’s not celebrating just a wonderful release watching a team that went through such shit at the beginning of the year (losing our top 2 offensive players, our other cy young candidate and the bullpen imploding) coming thru and rocking and giving us hope for next year.
oh, and watching the tigers suck is even better.
(Quote)
Sparty, I like your QB situation. Too bad you don’t have any WRs. This is gonna be a good year.
(Quote)
I have a fantasy football draft Sunday…during a wedding. Can I pull it off? PDA Ready.
(Quote)
@rek-you do what you got to do to win in fantasy.
@spencer-i have nightmares of Lee Evans from his last game against us in college.
(Quote)
hopefully Favre falls in love with Cotchery.
(Quote)
It’s great watching Francisco breaking out a little bit. And yeah, F the Tigers.
(Quote)
Just looking through it.
Where have all the RBs gone in the NFL?
(Quote)
Any suggestions on the best way handle the 12th pick in the draft?
(Quote)
Hef, Peyton and Big Ben ain’t a bad combo either.
(Quote)
cmfost. Snake or regular?
(Quote)
SO, I have Nationals season tickets and the Dodgers are in town tonight. About a month ago, my wife asked me if she could have the tix for tonight to go with a friend, and the Nats really suck so I said ok. Now, she gets to see Manny be Manny and watch Greg Maddux pitch tonight. That kind of sucks. Growing up a Cubs fan, I’ve seen Maddux a bunch of times (including his first chance at 300 wins in Nomar’s first game as a Cub — a loss by the way), but I’ve never seen Manny. Poop.

medicate yourself…heavily
(Quote)
if TO or Moss are available get one of them and a back. If neither, but Manning is, get him and a RB.

Quick ‘my league’ story:
I’m in a 16 team, 4 keeper league, so the talent is VERY scarce. My team got decimated by injury last year, so i have a very good draft pick. Our 4 keepers come with rules, no more than 1 per position except WR is 2. Scoring is balanced across positions. I kept Don’t have a WR worth mentioning or keeping.
So, i kept:
Adrian Peterson (obviously) over Maroney and Jamal Lewis.
Jeremy Shockey
Chicago Def (over Nate Kaeding)
Donovan McNabb (over JaMarcus Russell)
I really wanted to keep Russell just because I hate McNeverMakesItPastWeekTen.
Now, i’ve had McNabb for 6 years in this league, and haven’t been able to trade him, but can’t seem to let him go. He’s still rated highly, and I know that Russell will be available in rounds two or three.
I have 3rd pick overall. Going to grab McFadden.
(Quote)
thought about doing a keeper league. then I thought about my sanity.
(Quote)
I had 10th pick in a 10 team league last year and took Shaun Alexander… which didn’t work out so great. I still finished 2nd in the league and lost in the championship game by 6 points. So remember, you can still do get with a crappy drafting position! Just gotta draft smart late and get a couple of lucky breaks.
(Quote)
I only do keeper leagues. They’re awesome. I’ll have Pujols for his entire career in one league… makes for some fantastic trades near the deadline, crafty vet for the promising keeper rookie… different draft dynamic, etc.
Highly recommend giving one a try.

PS. What’s DEA?
I suppose Drug Enforcement Agency applies, with Giambi and Pettite
(Quote)
i didn’t finish the word.

We’ve had teh same leagie for 8 years now. It has turned into a keeper and is great.
My Possible Keepers:
Reggie Wayne
Braylon Edwards
Chad Johnson
Jeremy Shockey
Edge
Brandon Jacobs
I get to keep 3. I’m thinking all three WRs (we start 3)
(Quote)
oh, lol. dea-d. thought it was an acronym.
@trey, definately keep RW, BE, CJ.
(Quote)
I have been doing The Morning After a little bit different the last couple days, what do you guys think?
(Quote)
I’ve noticed the changes and like it, makes it flow easier.
(Quote)
spencer–I know it’s more of just being happy to not be stinking it up so much any more. 3rd place is a good spot considering.
(Quote)
trey-that was part of my goal. the constant recapping of games was very time consuming.
now I have more time to write other articles. i am putting together a preview of the fantasy league mentioned in this post.
(Quote)
new caption…
(Quote)
sparty–I thought reviewing all those baseball games was gonna get pretty time-consuming. Surprised you lasted as long as you did with that.
